Erase una vez, una familia Mexicana muy trabajadora. La Mama (Carmen) el Papa (Jorge Gonzales), dos hijos (Sammy y su hermano)y una hija (Silvia). La familia manejaba la limitada entrada de dinero porque el Padre (Jorge Gonzales) tuvo un accidente industrial y se encontraba en desabilidad.
Esta era una familia muy compasiva, muy activos en la Iglesia. Durante las festividades Navidenas en la Iglesia, la Mama (Carmen) observo a una nina como de unos siete (7) anos de edad, a la cual le gustaba estar en la Iglesia participando, y disfrutando todos los eventos pero, Carmen noto que la nina se reusaba a regresar a su casa todos los dias.
Como las dos se habian conocido muy bien, Carmen le pregunto a la pequena nina si lo que se imaginaba era verdad. Su Padre de la nina era narcotraficante, el cual hacia su dinero vendiendo drogas, y cuando no tenia drogas que vender, vendia a la nina a otros hombres.
Carmen estaba destrozada. Ese dia le dijo a su esposo e hijos que ella abriria las puertas de su hogar a esa nina y a todos los ninos que se encontraban en la misma sitiacion (empovresidos, abandonados, abusados, o sin padres, etc.). Toda la familia estuvo de acuerdo. Sus propios hijos, se mudaron a una recamara para preparar la otra recamara y la sala para la llegada de los nuevos ninos. Sus nuevos hermanos y hermanas.
En unas cuantas semanas, ya tenian mas de 20 ninos. En una casa muy pequena y humilde en Tijuana, Mexico. Casa Hogar Sion (que hasta hace poco se llamaba "El Faro No. 2" gracias a otro orfanato quien les "presto" el nombre) vino de amor y compacion.
Cuando Carmen empezo el orfanato junto a su familia, jamas penso en las dificultades cotidianas a las cuales se enfrentarian. Solo lo hicieron por compacion y fe en Dios.
RETOS: Dios, tenemos que preparar comida para mas de 30 personas todos los dias! Como le vamos a hacer para proveerles comida? Como y quien va a tener tiempo de lavar ropa, sabanas, cobijas y limpiar detras de los ninos? Tenemos solo un bano! Cuidado Medico (80% de los ninos estan enfermos)! Necesitamos mas platos, cubiertos, almacenes, electricidad! etc. Necesitamos muchos panales! Tenemos que ver como tirar tanta basura. Como le vamos a hacer para obtener ropa, panales, cobijas? Apenas tenemos campo para nosotros. Como le vamos a acomodar a todos en esta casa? Como le vamos hacer para mandar a los ninos a la escuela? (No podian registrar a los ninos por no ser los padres o guardianes legales de estos) Necesitaremos algun tipo de permiso para ayudar a estos ninos? Nos meteremos en algun tipo de problema legal por tratar de ayudar a estos ninos? Como le vamos a hacer para obtener el dinero para mantener a estos inocentes angelitos?
No dejaron que pensamientos, obstaculos y malas rachas los parara. Ellos se encomendaron a Dios con mucha compacion y un deceo enorme de ayudar. Estos ninos desamparados necesitaban ayuda y amor, y Carmen les hiba a proporsionar las dos; y eso es lo que hiba a hacer.
Despues de un tiempo, empesando con el grupo de la Iglesia, voluntarios y ayuda poco a poco comenzo a llegar. Para estar seguros, tenian y tienen muchas malas rachas como cuando toda la familia tuvo que sobrevivir en cartones donados de leche en polvo ya vencida por cuatro meses.
Atravez de los anos, gracias a la dedicacion de Carmen y su familia, regalos generosos han sido donados, y ayuda voluntaria; las condiciones han mejorado.
Hoy en dia (Enero 2006) se encuentran viviendo 120 ninos en la Casa Hogar Sion, como 12 infantes menores de un (1) ano, y el resto de los ninos son de entre 2 a 16 anos. Ya hay una escuela en el orfanato con salones de clases. Contrataron a seis (6) maestros que son pagados por Casa Hogar Sion, a $30.00 dolares por semana. Todavia hay necesidad de un maestro de palbulitos, pero no hay el presupuesto disponible por ahorita. Adicionalmente solo hay aproximadamente sueldo para seis (6) meses mas para los maestros. Ahora ya tambien contamos con una libreria y una sala de trabajo. Casa Hogar Sion se encuentra extremadamente orguyosa de tener un (1) estudiante de colegio (Omar). El es muy brillante y estudioso con puras calificaciones de 10 , y va en camino a convertirse en un Arquitecto triunfante!
Usted puede ver, la compacion, amor y dedicacion de una madre que puede hacer la diferencia en las vidas de muchos ninos. Esta es una posicion increible de impactar las vidas de muchos ninos inocentes que se merecen todo; pero no lo puede lograr sin SU ayuda.

Once upon a time there was a working Mexican family. Mother (Carmen), Father (Jorge Gonzalez), two sons (Sammy and his brother), and a daughter (Silvia). The family managed on limited income due to the father’s disability from an industrial accident.
This was a compassionate family, very active in the Church. During the festivities leading to Christmas at the Church, the mother (Carmen Gonzalez) noticed a little girl of about 7 years old who loved being at the church, participating and enjoying all events. However, Carmen noticed that the little girl seemed reluctant to leave and go home each day. Since the two had gotten to know each other fairly well, Carmen asked the little girl if what she had sensed was true. The little girl opened up and said it was true. Her father was a drug dealer who made his money from selling drugs; and when he could not make money from drugs, he “sold” her to other men.
Carmen was devastated. She spoke with her husband and declared to her family that she was going to open her home to this little girl and other children with similar circumstances (impovershied, abandoned, abused, no parents, etc.). The family agreed. Her own children moved to one room and prepared the other room and the living room for the arrival of new children; their new brothers and sisters.
Within weeks they had over 20 children in their small and humble house in Tijuana, Mexico. Casa Hogar Sion (until recently, it used to be called El Faro no.2 thanks to another orphanage which “lent” its name) came into being out of love and compassion!
When Carmen started the orphanage with her family, they did not think of the daily difficulties ahead. They just did it out of compassion and trust in God.
CHALLENGES: God, we have to prepare meals for over 30 people every day! How are we going to provide food? How and who is going to have the time to wash clothes and linen, and cleanup after these children? We have only one bathroom! How about medical care? (80%+ of the children were sick.) We need more dishes and utensils, storage place, electricity, etc. We need a lot of diapers. We have to find a way to dispose all the waste. How are we going to get clothes, diapers, and beddings? We hardly have enough space for ourselves. How are we going to fit everyone in this house? How about school? (They could not register the children in school because they were not legally the children’s parents or guardians.) Do we need any sort of permit to do this? Are we going to get into legal trouble for trying to help these children?
How are we going to find the money to support these innocent angels?
They did not allow thoughts of obstacles and hardships stop them. They just did it with belief in God, compassion, and an overwhelming desire to help. The destitute children needed love and help. Carmen was going to provide both; and that was that.
Shortly after, beginning with the Church group, volunteers and help slowly arrived. To be sure, there were, and still are, hard times like when the entire “family” had to survive on donated cartons of expired powdered milk for Four months.
Over the years thanks to the dedication of Carmen and her family, generous gifts of donations, and volunteer helpers; conditions have improved.
There are 120 children (January 2006) living at Casa Hogar Sion, about 12 babies under the age 1, and the rest of the children are between 3 and 16. We have opened a medical care unit for those of our children who are terminally ill. There is a school on the orphanage premises with several classrooms, six hired teachers paid by Casa Hogar Sion at $30 per week salary. There is a need for an additional kindergarten teacher, but there are no funds available to pay for this teacher. Additionally, there is approximately only six more months of available funds left for the salaries of the current teachers. Now there is even a library and a workshop! Casa Hogar Sion is extremely proud to have its first college-bound student, Omar. He is a brilliant, hard-working straight-A student on his way to becoming a successful architect!
You see, the compassion, love, and dedication of one mother can make a difference on the lives of many children. Here, it has had an unbelievable positive impact to the lives of many innocent and deserving children; but she cannot do it alone without YOUR help.
